No, the only communication we will have with you will be via the e-cops email and occasional consultation via email.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you may cancel your subscription at any time by simply clicking on the link at the end of each email, or by visiting our website, www.cambs.police.uk/myneighbourhood/ecops/login/
How will I know emails are from Cambridgeshire Constabulary?
All emails you receive from us will be sent from a cambs.pnn.police.uk address and in the subject line content will include e-cops’.
Can I reply to the email?
Yes, we welcome your comments and thoughts. All replies to emails are forwarded to your neighbourhood policing team.
Do you read the emails?
Yes, your neighbourhood policing team will receive and read all of your emails. Please be aware that sometimes we will not reply if it is simply information you want to pass inwards for our attention. Even if you do not hear from us directly then please be assured that everything you send us will be actioned or reviewed.
Do others see my email address?
No, emails are sent as blind copies so that subscribers cannot see each other’s details.
Can I forward or print out e-cops and share it with friends, or is it confidential?
These emails are not confidential and we welcome you to introduce others to the scheme. We do advise that you remove any personal details you do not wish to share, such as email addresses. Associates can sign up to e-cops by visiting www.cambs.police.uk/signup/ecops/
Can I change my contact details if I move house or internet provider?
Yes, use the links at the bottom of the e-cops email, or visit our website www.cambs.police.uk/myneighbourhood/ecops/login/
Does e-cops cost me anything?
No, e-cops’ subscription is free, no other charges or fees will be incurred.
Is this instead of real police?
No, all emails that you receive are written personally by your neighbourhood policing team. The idea behind the scheme is to create two way communication between Cambridgeshire Constabulary and our community.
Is this to replace Neighbourhood Watch?
No, this will not be replacing any Neighbourhood Watch schemes. We hope instead that it will complement existing schemes and initiatives.
Are you a real person/police officer?
Yes, all emails that you receive are written personally by your neighbourhood policing team.
How soon will you read my email?
We will read your email as soon as we are next on duty. We aim to do this before we patrol so we can see if the email needs dealing with during the course of the patrol. Obviously holiday leave and sickness might delay our reading the message. If the neighbourhood is policed by a team then the first member of the team will deal with the message.
Can I report crime by email?
No, this scheme is not intended to receive information about crimes, you can report crimes by calling 0845 456 456 4. In an emergency always dial 999.
Can I use e-cops in an emergency?
No, in an emergency you should always dial 999. An emergency is when there is a risk of serious injury, there is risk of serious damage to property, you suspect a crime is in progress or there is a serious incident which needs immediate police attendance. For non urgent matters call 0845 456 456 4.
Does this replace telephone calls?
No, if you need to speak to Cambridgeshire Constabulary please contact us on 0845 456 456 4. In an emergency always dial 999.
