General Phone Enquires
To report less urgent crime or disorder, to contact the police with a general enquiry or to speak to a local officer, dial 101.
101 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The system is smart and will identify where you are calling from and connect you with the local police for that area.
Calls from landlines and mobile networks cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day or the duration of the call.

RNID recommend the use of Text Relay, the UK’s text to voice relay service which enables deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing and speech impaired people to communicate. To make a call from a textphone dial:

Emergencies
Dial 999 when:
- Lives are at risk / violence / serious injury
- Serious crime is happening
- Criminal still at the scene or nearby
The police operator will need to take your name, address and details of what has happened. This will take time, but it is important to get all of the information from you so that we can send the appropriate resources to you if necessary.
Otherwise, always call 101.
For all non-emergency calls. - Your call will be answered by a trained operator. Please note, calls may be recorded for quality monitoring, training and evidential purposes.
